The Last Satellite is set in a world that is void of any light. This setting was heavily influenced by the book of Job. While talking to his friends, Job continuously refers to the “darkness” of God’s apparent absence in this time of tragedy. I think many people have at least one event in their life where they feel God has gone missing, or that he has no thought or care for their suffering. The characters in this story are my sister and I. There was one particular event in our life that turned our world upside down, and it has been an uphill battle to try to return our lives to the joy that we had before. I always blamed God for the way my life had turned and even went as far as to ask my mother why she would still serve a God who would allow this to happen to us. It took me over a decade to come to the realization that God was always there and that he never stopped loving me, even when I hated him. Looking back I can see exactly where he was in every situation, even though at the time I though he had abandoned me. I know now how great his love is. This song is really about my hope that my sister can make it through her darkness. That she will one day realize how much He loves her. “He calls me diamonds, He calls her silver and gold. He tells us we are not alone.”
It’s amazing to see how God works. Intense story!
I just hope more people can see that God is there and that all they have to do is trust Him and not give up.
nice work =]
